What exactly is a Recovery Coach?
A Recovery Coach is anyone interested in transmitting recovery by
becoming a personal mentor for individuals seeking recovery from
substance abuse, or those in early recovery who may need assistance
removing the barriers and obstacles they may encounter in the recovery
Through the RCA, individuals will learn the roles associated with
recovery coaching: role model and mentor, motivator and cheerleader,
ally and confident, problem solver, truth teller, advocate, community
organizer, lifestyle consultant, friend, companion and equal.
Participants also learn the importance of what a Recovery Coach is not: a
sponsor, counselor, doctor or priest.

Describe the roles and functions of a recovery coach
List the components, core values and guiding principles of recovery
Build skills to enhance relationships
Describe stages of change and how to achieve them
Discuss co-occurring disorders and medicated assisted recovery
Participate in wellness planning
Address ethical issues
Practice newly acquired skills
